Youth Group

Growing Together
in Christ

We are a Christian Fellowship Group that cares and shares with one another
and reaches out to help our Church and community. Our youth program provides
an opportunity for the youth to build true friendships, and grow spiritually by
putting their faith into practice.

Our activities include Bible studies, discussions, pool parties, games, performing random acts of kindness, camping, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, theatre events,
youth conferences, Christian concerts, and trips to amusement parks, such as,
MGM Studios, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, and Disney Quest.

For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.

Concerts

Our Youth Group loves music so we make a special effort to give them the
opportunity to see some of the top Christian artists perform live in concert,
such as, the Newsboys, tobyMac, Audio Adrenaline, Third Day, Michael Tait,
Jars of Clay, Jaci Velasquez, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith, Mercy Me,
and the list goes on.

"Rock the Universe", hosted at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida is always
an event we look forward to each year. What could be more fun than listening
to Christian rock concerts while experiencing the thrilling and chilling rides at
Universal Studios? We participate annually in the “Acquire the Fire” Youth
Convention. The youth hear inspirational speakers, lots of fantastic Christian
concerts, and participates in praise and worship time. Many youth accept Jesus
as their personal Lord and Savior during this event. We also enjoy going to the Festival Con Dios and the Summer Jam Tours.

Mystery Events & Scavenger Hunts
One of our most popular activities is the Mystery Events. Everyone in our Youth
Group is assigned a role in a play. As the play is acted out the Biblical based
mystery starts to unfold until eventually the mystery is solved. We also hold at
least one Scavenger Hunt per year that includes a Biblical theme and message.

Pizza Party
Our Church provides a pizza party approximately once every 6 weeks for the
Youth Group. The pizza is a thank you gift for all the volunteer work the youth
does for VNUMC and its various activities. The parties are held during our
regular meetings on Monday night.

Karoke Night
Karoke Night is always a big hit. The youth wear costumes to match the songs
they select using everything from Rap, Rock-n-Roll, Country, and Contemporary Christian music.

Meeting Time & Location
Our Youth Group is designed for Junior & Senior High School students. The
meetings are held every Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Parsonage #2.
You and your friends are invited to come and give our program and God a try.
It’s a lot of fun!

MYF Benediction
At the close of each meeting the youth form a circle and recite the United Methodist Youth Fellowship Benediction. It is taken from the Book of Numbers 6:24-26. We would like you to know this prayer is also for you!

May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May the Lord make His face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
and give you peace.
