In All Things Give Thanks

Blessings come in many guises
That God alone in love devises,

And sickness which we dread so much
Can bring a very “healing touch”

For often on the “wings of pain”
The peace we sought before in vain

Will come to us with “sweet surprise”
For God is merciful and wise

And through long hours of tribulation
God gives us time for meditation,

And no sickness can be counted loss
That teaches us to “bear our cross.”

I Said a Prayer for You Today

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke not a word.
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn't mind).
I asked for priceless treasure rare
Of a more lasting kind.
I prayed that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings fair,
And friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small
But that you'd know His loving care
I prayed for that most of all.

It’s Up to You

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.

One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.

One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.

One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.

One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true,

One life can make the difference,
You see, it’s up to you!

Let Go and Let God!

When you’re troubled and worried and sick at heart
And your plans are upset and your world falls apart,
Remember God’s ready and waiting to share
The burden you find much too heavy to bear
So with faith LET GO AND LET GOD lead the way
Into a brighter and less troubled day.

Most Richly Blessed

I asked God for strength that I might achieve,
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for health that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.

I asked for riches that I might be happy,
I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life,
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing I asked for but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

Take Time

Take time to Work --
It is the price of success.

Take time to Think --
It is the source of power.

Take time to Play --
It is the secret of youth.

Take time to Read your Bible --
It is the foundation of knowledge and feeds the soul.

Take time to Worship --

It is the highway of reverence and
washes the dust of earth from our eyes.

Take time to Help and Enjoy Friends --

It is the source of happiness.

Take time to Love --

It is the one sacrament of life.

Take time to Dream --
It hitches the soul to the stars.

Take time to Laugh --
It is the singing that helps with life’s loads.

Take time to Pray --
It rids us of our excess baggage.

Take time to Plan --
It is the secret of being able to have time
to take time for the first ten things.

What Cancer Cannot Do

  Cancer is so limited:

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot rob your joy.
It cannot conquer the spirit.
It cannot stop you from loving and being loved.

You Never Know

You never know when someone
might catch a dream from you.
Or something you say may open up
the windows of a mind that seeks light;
The way you live may not matter at all,
But you never know, it might.
And just in case it could be that another’s life,
through you, might possibly change for
the better with a better and brighter view,
it seems it might be worth a try at
pointing the way to the right;
Of course, it may not matter at all,
but then again, it might.
