Purpose Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church established a Child Care Center in 1983 to give families in the community an opportunity to place their children in a loving, safe, Christian, and quality pre-school program. We want children to learn, play, and grow in the best possible environment. The children are introduced to a variety of quality experiences to enrich their development in the areas of social skills, emotions, intellect, creativity, independence, and spirituality. We want to create an attitude that learning is fun. Our goal is to help build a strong foundation for each child in accordance with the Bible verse shown below:

We have an excellent staff of highly trained professionals. We provide support to the parents, encourage family involvement, and recommend regular parent / teacher conferences. We keep a low student / teacher ratio because we know it is best for the children to be able to get more individualized attention. We want you and your child to feel “at home” with our surroundings and the program we offer.
Activities Our activities emphasize sensory development, socialization, language development, problem solving, math, eye/hand coordination, co-active development, large/small muscle development, concentration, health manners, cooperation, communication skills, using information, and learning to express themselves. Our schedule includes times for learning centers, snacks, playground, arts and crafts, lunch, and naps. We also sponsor field trips to different places, such as, the YMCA for gymnastics, the Venice Little Theater, the Venice Fire Department, and local pet shops.

Age Requirements The Child Care Center is designed for children between the ages of 2 to 5. Hours of Operation We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Contact Us For more information please call us at (941) 484-4415. |
Religion & Music Our weekly schedule includes time for worship with our Senior or Assistant Minister in the Chapel and a music appreciation class taught by our Director of Music. The children periodically sing for our Traditional Family Worship Service, as well as, special events and programs throughout the year.
Community Outreach We visit our "adopted grandparents" at Heritage Health Care Nursing on a regular basis. The children dress up in their Halloween costumes, share a Christmas toy, enjoy refreshments together, and exchange lots of hugs. Homemade Valentines are made and sent to Veterans in the hospital. Each year money, food, and/or consumable items are collected to give to a family in need during the holidays. The children learn how good it feels to help others.
Fundraisers Fundraisers are a very important part of our program. We have sold candy bars, Tupperware, and published cookbooks. The favorite fundraiser of the children is our annual Wheel-A-Thon. The children ride their bikes, and tricycles or non-pedaling scooters and receive money from all that pledge a donation for the number of laps they ride.
