Purpose
United Methodist Men shall be a creative supportive fellowship of men who seek
to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily His will. Our Primary
purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their
relationships. The major concerns are: |
To encourage knowledge of and support for the total mission
of The United Methodist Church. |
To engage in evangelism by sharing the fullness of the
gospel in its personal and social dimensions.
To clarify and speak to the identity and role of
the man in contemporary society. |
To seek commitment to discipleship.
To study and become familiar with The United Methodist Church,
its organization, doctrines, and beliefs.
|
To cooperate with all units of United Methodist Men in obtaining
these objectives through district, conference, jurisdiction,
and church wide goals.
|
Personal Objectives
Men seeking membership in a local United Methodist Men's Fellowship shall
subscribe to the purpose of the United Methodist Men and to these personal
objectives as stated in the Book of Discipline, The United Methodist Church:
To engage daily in Bible Study and prayer. To bear witness to Christ's way in
daily work and in all personal contacts through words and actions. To engage
in Christian service.

Meetings
The United Methodist Men meet every Monday at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast, fellowship,
and devotions in the Fellowship Hall throughout the year. Since 1965, the men have
stayed after breakfast to do maintenance work around the Church to help maintain
and beautify the buildings and surrounding landscape. |
A Potluck Dinner is held in combination with a meeting on the second Thursday of each
month from October through April. The dinner is held in the Fellowship Hall and begins
at 6:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and a chance to learn more
about the UMM and the activities they are involved in. Everyone is invited to attend. |
Fundraisers & Events
On the first Saturday of each month from October through April the United Methodist
Men cook and serve a delicious All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast. The cost is
only $3.00 and is available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. It includes pancakes that
melt in your mouth, eggs, sausage, orange juice, and coffee. The recipes are a
well-guarded secret. Once a year the UMM include a Rummage Sale in combination
with the Pancake Breakfast. Each year in March a special All-You-Can-Eat Beef Stew Fundraiser
Dinner is offered. The UMM honor their wives, and sweethearts annually with a
Sweetheart Banquet consisting of dinner, a special program or an evening at the
theatre. |
Rummage Sale
The rummage sale at our Pancake Breakfast has consistently been successful.
The United Methodist Men are now giving our congregation and community the
opportunity to rummage through our rummage weekly on Monday's from 8:30 a.m.
to 10:30 a.m. from October through May at the garage adjacent to Parsonage #2.
A wide range of items is for sale including books, toys, pictures, house wares,
furniture, large appliances and more. You may drop off donations at Parsonage
#2 on Monday mornings or at the Church Office during the week. Call the Church
Office if you need to schedule a pickup of your donated items. Tax receipts are
also available. |
Missions
The UMM consider providing financial assistance to our Church, community, and
different mission projects an important Christian service. Contributions have been
made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, The Salvation Army, Jim Russo Prison
Ministry, Sparce, Loveland Center, The Methodist Children's Home, Meals on
Wheels, Roy Stiff's Campus Crusades, and to various groups and programs within
our Church. Each week our congregation has the opportunity to donate non-perishable
food items for the South County Food Pantry. The UMM deliver the donations every
Monday. Donation containers are located in the Narthex and the Fellowship Hall |
Recycling Projects
The UMM collect aluminum cans, newspapers, and empty inkjet cartridges by HP,
Lexmark, Compaq, Apple, Epson, and other compatible cartridges. This not only
helps the UMM but also the environment. You may drop off your empty cartridges
in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday or at the Church Office during the week.
