Parable is derived from the Greek word
“parabole” meaning a likeness or
comparison. A parable uses something familiar and compares it to
something
not so familiar. Jesus used parables to teach important,
timeless lessons, and
to illustrate the kingdom of God.

O My people,

Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables;
and without a parable He did
not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by
the prophet,
