                                       The Parables of Jesus
Parable is derived from the Greek word “parabole” meaning a likeness or
comparison. A parable uses something familiar and compares it to something
not so familiar. Jesus used parables to teach important, timeless lessons, and
to illustrate the kingdom of God.

                                                 Psalms 78:1-2
O My people, hear My teaching; Listen to the words of My mouth.
l open My mouth in parables.

                                              Matthew 13: 34-35
Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did
not speak to them, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
saying: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been
kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
