Pastor J. Gordon Ralls
Jerusalem OBITUARIES 33 AD
Calvary
Jesus Christ 33 of Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also
known as Golgotha,
the place of the skull. Betrayed by the apostle Judas, Jesus was
crucified by the
Romans, by order of the Ruler Pontius Pilate. The causes of
death were crucifixion,
extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood.
Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, was a member of the house
of David. His
earthly father was the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth, and
Mary His devoted
Mother. Jesus was born in a stable in the city of Bethlehem,
Judea.
He is survived by His mother, Mary, His faithful Apostles,
numerous disciples, and
many other followers.
Jesus was self-educated and spent most of His adult life working
as a Teacher.
Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is
reported that He healed
many patients. Up until the time of His death, Jesus was
teaching and sharing the
Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the
hungry, and helping
the poor.
Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Father’s
Kingdom and performing
miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five
loaves of bread and two
fish, and healing a man who was born blind. On the day before
His death, He held
a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He
foretold His death.
The body was quickly buried in a stone grave, which was donated
by Joseph of
Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family. By order of Pontius
Pilate, a boulder was
rolled in front of the tomb. Roman soldiers were put on guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try
to live as Jesus did.
Donations may be sent to anyone in need.

CROP WALK
Pastor Ralph Burton lead
the thirty Crop Walkers in the 2006 CROPWALK. It was a
beautiful day and what a glorious sight to see all those green
shirts walking down
the streets of Venice. Amy Skidmore pulling her daughter,
Rebecca in her new red
wagon and Alyson King and her two daughters, Tiffany & Alexia
enjoyed walking in
the cropwalk along with the walkers. THANKS to those of you who
sponsored the
walkers, we collected $3,781.00 this year. Yes, we collected
more in 2005, but I
was hoping we would collect $4,000.00 this year. Watch for an
update on how much
the total of the complete Venice collection was. Last year
VENICE was #1 in Florida,
collecting $52,028! I will let you know how much money is
returned from the Crop
Walk to the local missions, Meals on Wheels, South County Food
Pantry, Salvation
Army and the Fishers of Men Soup Kitchen.

CHILD CARE
CENTER
Spring Has Sprung!
SPRING is a busy time of year in the pre-school. We’re doing our
3rd Development
evaluation on all students enrolled this school year. We are
having parent/teacher
conferences for all students and I am doing Director/Teacher
conferences with
each teacher.
Summer is Just Around the Corner!
We are organizing our SUMMER program that will begin the end of
May and are ready
to register students for the school year 2006/2007. The
Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten
program funded by the State of Florida has been very successful.
The 4 year olds
received 3 "free" hours of pre-school each day for the entire
school year. We hope
to have 2 VPK classes next school year, and possibly 3.
M E T A M O R P H O S I S
Metamorphosis is a big word - but even our 2 year old class know
what it means.
We have had caterpillar changing into Butterflies right in the
classroom. We’ve also
seen Lady Bugs grow from an egg. Tadpoles also experience
metamorphosis and
it is experiences like these that help children develop their
sense of wonder and
creativity.
Future Thespians?
We had a great opportunity to visit Venice Little Theater
recently for a "TROUPE
IN A TRUNK" performance. It was interactive with audience
participation. The
children loved it! We will be taking our 4 year old students to
the Florida Studio
Theater in May to see a number of plays that have been written
by local
elementary students.
We are very proud of the great, well rounded curriculum we offer
and we are
thankful for the support of such a wonderful church
congregation.
God Bless, Barbara Zier

EVANGELISM
WELCOME CENTER
What is the umbrella outside our front Church entrance? It is
shading for our Evangelism
committee's new WELCOME CENTER. Please have your guests stop by
and pick up a
stick-on name tag. This will identify them from those wearing
the permanent name
tag. Our center offers information about our Church and our
activities.
LENTEN DEVOTIONAL BOOKLET
The Devotional Booklets are available in the Narthex and
Fellowship Hall.

GOD'S RAINBOW
OF LOVE
Spring Break is just a memory now and our children are busy
getting ready for Easter.
We made adorable plant takes that say "HE LIVES." We are also
opening our resurrection
eggs - the children can’t wait for me to call the color so we
can see what come next.
Will it be a donkey, silver cross, crown of thorns, a stone, or
an empty egg?
Wasn’t it great to see so many children - 26 showed up to o our
Palm Sunday
processional and sing for our congregation on Palm Sunday. We
are still studying
the Christian Seasons, colors and symbols, as well as correct
names for special
areas in our church i.e. narthex.
We are busy getting ready for our Hallelujah Hop on
Wednesday, May 10. Mark
your calendar now for this 50's End of the Year Program &
Potluck Dinner. Keep these
wonderful children in your prayers. If you liked the music of
the late 50's & early 60's,
poodle skirts, saddle shoes and pony tails this program promises
to be an extra special
treat for you. Come out and show the children of our after
school programs that you
support all the hard work they have done in preparation for the
End of the Year Program.
This is also a Churchwide Potluck Dinner. Enjoy a time of
Christian fellowship and some
of the best varieties of food you will find anywhere! Please
bring a generous dish to pass.
In His Service, Robin Deegan

IN HIS
FOOTSTEPS
When someone does a kindness
It always seems to me. . .
That’s the way God up in heaven
would like us all to be.
For when we bring some pleasure
to another human heart,
We have followed in His Footsteps,
We’ve had a little part. . .
In serving Him who loves us,
For I am sure it’s true,
That in serving those around us,
We serve and please Him too!
