                                     Christ's Commandments

Everything that Christ spoke is considered a commandment. He set the
perfect example for us to follow. Christ’s commandments are the principles
by which we should live our life. Keeping them not only allows us to remain
in His love but it shows our love for Him. It demonstrates our faith through
action and we will find salvation. We are to share our faith, pray for one
another, and are to be loving, forgiving, kind, encouraging, supportive,
humble and honest.

Matthew 22:36-41
Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?
You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 5:38-42 (RSV)

You have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
But I say to you do not resist one who is evil. But if anyone strikes you on the
right cheek, turn to him the other also; and if nay one would sue you and take
your coat, let him have your cloak as well; and if any one forces you to go one
mile, go with him two miles. Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse
him who would borrow from you.

Matthew 5:44 (RSV)
Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 6:1-4 (NLT)
Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired, because then you will
lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you gift to someone in
need, don’t tell your left hand what the right hand is doing. Give your gifts
in secret, and your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you.

Matthew 6:25 (RSV)
Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or drink, nor about
your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food and the body
more than clothing?

Matthew 6:33 (RSV)
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.

Matthew 6:34
Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Mark 8:34

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Mark 11:22 (RSV)
Have faith in God.
Luke 6:31 (NLT)
Do for others as you would like them to do for you.

Luke 6:37 (RSV)
Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be
condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to
you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will
be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you
get back.

Luke 12:15 (NLT)
Don’t be greedy for what you don’t have.

Luke 14:12-14 (NLT)
When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends, brothers,
relatives, and your rich neighbors. For they will repay you by inviting you back.
Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the
resurrection of the godly, God will reward you for inviting those who could
not repay you.

Luke 17:3 (NLT)
If another believer sins, rebuke him; then if he repents, forgive him. Even if
he wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks
forgiveness, forgive him.

If you stayed joined to Me and My words remain in you,
you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted.                                Top

And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful
nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other,
and your choices are never free from this conflict.
